20 mph for Woodbridge

The BBC local news reported that Suffolk County Council are considering introducing more 20 mph speed limits as part of an initiative to make walking and cycling in Woodbridge more convenient. Apparently they ran a public engagement project in the early part of this year and received 3500 responses. The Active Travel Team (new to me) analysed the responses and have adjusted the proposal to reflect these views.

This is very good but I wonder how far these proposals extend. If it is just to Woodbridge then that does not address the issues faced by villages on the Peninsula and wider. Our narrow often pavement less roads need the calming measures, including the 20 mph limits, that Woodbridge are likely to get. It can save lives and make walkers and cyclists feel safer.

An interesting article which we will keep an eye on.
